Universal Declaration of Human Rights turns 60

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) turns 60 on 10 December 2008. It was the UDHR, almost 60 years ago, that first recognized what have become nowadays universal values: human rights are inherent to all and the concern of the whole of the international community. Drafted by representatives of all regions and legal traditions, the UDHR has stood the test of time and resisted attacks based on “relativism”. The Declaration and its core values, including non-discrimination, equality, fairness and universality, apply to everyone, everywhere and always. SAA Hearing on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (December 10th) and World AIDS Day on December 1st, Stop AIDS Alliance, in collaboration with the EP Working Group on Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Development (EPWG), is organising a hearing at the European Parliament titled: HIV/AIDS and Human Rights: Increased EU leadership in promoting human rights in the global response to HIV/AIDS, on the 11th of December hosted by the Hon.
