July 2010

The International AIDS Conference 2010

The International AIDS Conference is taking place in Vienna, Austria from 18-23 July. The conference, themed "Rights here, Right now!" is an important opportunity for civil society, private sector, researchers, members of governments and people living with and affected by HIV to learn from one another and debate the issues. It is held every two years.

Stop AIDS Alliance is strongly represented at the conference through several events of its partners – the International HIV/AIDS Alliance and Stop AIDS NOW! In addition, Stop AIDS Alliance colleague Arben Fetai will speak at the event titled “Doing more and better – how can partners work the European Commission to confront HIV/AIDS” and facilitate the event “Engaging with the European Union at country level”.

The Conference is also a great opportunity to take forward the recent European Parliament Resolution on a rights-based approach to the EU’s response to HIV/AIDS.
