Council of the European Union

Stop AIDS Alliance works closely with the Council of the European Union (Council). As the main decision-making body of the European Union, the Council meets in different configurations, depending on the subjects under discussion. The General Affairs and External Relations Council (GAERC), consisting of Foreign Affairs and Development Ministers of the EU Member States, is the Council relevant for Stop AIDS Alliance. In particular we work with the permanent Council Working Group on Development Cooperation (CODEV), which is responsible for preparing the work of the GAERC.

We liaise regularly with representatives of CODEV in Brussels to ensure that the Council’s Conclusions, Declarations and Resolutions relevant to EU development cooperation pay sufficient attention to the response to HIV/AIDS.
