Kick off for child health!

Yesterday at the European Parliament in Strasbourg Action for Global Health, including Stop AIDS Alliance, joined with MEPs and other distinguished guests to mark African Child Day with a football themed event targeting child health. At the event, chaired by MEP Michael Cashman, guests were invited to kick off for children’s health by shooting goals, playing AfGH’s new online football game on children’s health and committing to take greater action for the Health MDGs and in particular for MDG4 (reduce child mortality).

After the plenary session, AfGH members had rolled a giant football through the Parliament to raise awareness on MDG4, generating such interest among parliamentarians that close to 50 signatures were collected before the event even begun. Mr. Cashman, rapporteur of the MDG report, opened the event and challenged all present to test their knowledge of child health by playing the online game, that went live for the first time this afternoon. It is now available in 5 languages at www.mdg4.eu.

Further information, resources and tools, including a link to the online game ‘Kick off for children’s health!’, can be found on Action for Global Health’s Website: www.actionforglobalhealth.eu.
