Global and national resources for the response to HIV/AIDS have increased. But still progress is undermined by insufficient resources to tackle the scale of the epidemic and international failure to ensure these resources reach the hardest-hit communities. To meet the goals of universal access by 2010 and Millennium Development Goal 6 by 2015, financial resources for HIV must dramatically increase.Stop AIDS Alliance is advocating for increased EU financial support for the global HIV response. In particular, we advocate for more and better aid for health and AIDS in the EU budget, the European Development Fund and the new financing mechanisms, with a particular focus on the specific challenges faced by key populations and other vulnerable groups. We also push for increases in national budget allocations to HIV within or alongside investment in broader development and health allocations.
